Everyone was impressed by the lobby – that logo was really impressive. From UPS drivers, to business people, to vendors, even to personal friends. The giant Duke Nukem logo on the floor was something that was always a discussion point. Here’s a picture of the final product, which the total costs of construction were over $10,000 – I asked for this article, but the guy who handled that couldn’t remember the exact price, but did say it was over $10,000. Here’s a few pictures of it being put down. It was a tile floor with the Duke Nukem “nuke” logo laid out in small tile squares.

It was a giant Nuke logo on the lobby floor right inside the door. However, after a few trips to the new place to see how construction was going, I found myself seriously impressed with what I saw coming together. At first I didn’t think much was going to come of it. I liked both of the places I worked at, but insofar as the actual OFFICES go, the best thing about either of them was the lobby floor in the second building. The first one from 1992-2002, and then the second from Nov 2002 to May 2009. I worked at two different offices during my time there. I was fiercely loyal for any number of reasons, one of which is the way the owners treated me during my time there. I'd say more about it but I don't want to spoil. Those who know me know I worked for Apogee/3D Realms for over 16 years (from 1992-2009). Civvie 11 even called it The Real Blood 2.

While it's only a mod like Alien Armageddon for Duke 3D, would Death Wish count? It's classic Blood cooked to perfection and it brings back Chernonbog for a super final showdown. If they took the sequel's strongest parts (the setting, expanded lore) and reworked it to play like a modern Build engine game (Ion Fury), I think it would definitely find an audience.

I loved the potential of Blood 2's setting - the futuristic horror setting was pretty cool, but I think if they had made the sequel in the Build Engine it would have allowed them to work out their ideas without having to also worry about figuring out a new engine.

I always thought it would be cool if they remade Blood 2 in the build engine - there is actually a lot going on in that game that was just hampered by publisher pressure and it being on an early version of the Lithtech engine (Monolith would eventually figure out how to make a great game in that engine with No One Lives Forever). And I'm willing to pay for it, in case that's you're worrying about. I want something that not afraid to mock anyone and anything. I'm tired of all these washed down warm smoothie-like substances they are trying to sell me as a games. Shout outs (never though I'd use these words) to the Ion Fury developers. Look, I know - why am I asking for more Blood in an Ion Fury thread? Simple - it's 'cause there are people here that can actually pull that off. Humour so dark it stays an inch from becoming a singularity. And since Build Engine is still capable of doing something - why not? After all Blood was always about features, not graphics technologies. 'cause, ya know, they never did any sequel to that one. Thanks for checking out the group, and if you have any questions about Ion Maiden, feel free to leave us a message. It features Shelley “Bombshell” Harrison. The engine that brought us these titles from the past is being used again (upgraded of course) to bring us a new title - ION MAIDEN! Oh well, wherever, wherever you are - ION MAIDEN’S gonna get you - It is the successor to Duke Nukem 3D. 3D Realms has quite a legacy of titles and to that, we are combining the past and the future in one glorious way.ģD Realms has returned to Build. 26 years after my original start with the company. We always were talking about Duke Nukem 3D, even decades later, when we had moved on to other games and engines.įast forward to 2018.

Not one of them came out that I thought was not fun. 3D Realms worked on several other games, across many engines. Times change, engines change, companies move on. I’ve seen a lot of games come out over the years. My name is Joe Siegler, and I’ve been involved with 3D Realms since 1992 - when Wolfenstein 3D was new. If you’re reading this then you don’t need to be reminded of the fun that Duke Nukem 3D was in 1996. Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood, and several others used this engine. A long time ago I remember when Apogee/3D Realms started working with Ken Silverman’s Build engine.
